Two dominant s in London Ruckert and Callum McGilvery are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. Denmark will head out on the road to take on the South Forsyth War Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. South Forsyth took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Denmark, who comes in off a win.
Denmark had to skate by with only a three-point margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 28-point drubbing they dealt Forsyth Central on Friday. Denmark really took it to Forsyth Central for the full four quarters, racking up a 34-6 victory. The contest marked Denmark's most dominant win of the season.
Denmark's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Evan Jones, who threw for 206 yards and one touchdown while completing 82.4% of his passes, and also rushed for 49 yards. Another back making a difference was Noah Laban, who gained 108 total yards.
Denmark's run defense was locked in: Forsyth Central could only muster 0.8 yards per carry. The team can thank Jacob White for the heroic effort on defense: he. Denmark's ground attack was stronger, having averaged 4.9.
Meanwhile, South Forsyth was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a blow against West Forsyth, falling 42-10. While losing is never fun, the War Eagles can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 242nd, while the Wolverines are ranked 36th).
Denmark will have to keep a close watch on Will Watkins and Davis Sanders, a pair of players who had a big impact on South Forsyth's prior game. Watkins threw for 164 yards and one TD, while Sanders picked up 72 receiving yards and one score. Sanders also deserves a shoutout for his performance on D, picking up a sack and making three total tackles.
Denmark's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-3. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 11.0 points on average over those games. As for South Forsyth, their loss dropped their record down to 2-5.
Everything went Denmark's way against South Forsyth in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Denmark made off with a 32-7 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Denmark since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
