The Catalina Trojans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Flowing Wells on the road and fell 71-15. While losing is never fun, Catalina can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 278th, while Flowing Wells is ranked 50th).
Flowing Wells' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jada Camacho, who scored seven points along with eight steals. Those eight steals set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Potter, who scored ten points.
Catalina's loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-8. As for Flowing Wells, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-4.
Catalina will head out on the road to face off against The Gregory School at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Gregory School is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak. Flowing Wells will finish 2023 at home by hosting Nogales at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
