The Laughlin Cougars will head out on the road to square off against the Boulder City Eagles at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Laughlin is coming into the game hot, having won their last six games.
Laughlin's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Beaver Dam with a sharp 15-0 win. Considering the Cougars have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.
Anthony Brookins made a splash while hitting and pitching. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Zeus Sanchez was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with four stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He has become a key player for Laughlin: the team is 11-2 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-4 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Adrian Ruiz, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with five stolen bases and two runs.

Meanwhile, Boulder City faced Basic in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Eagles fell just short of the Wolves by a score of 12-11. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (ten), the Eagles still had to take the loss.
Cael Starley put in work no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Starley was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Gauge Rhodes was cooking despite his team's loss, going 3-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Gavin Robinson, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one RBI.
Laughlin's victory bumped their record up to 14-6. As for Boulder City, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-11.
Laughlin's speedy runners might be the difference in Friday's matchup. The Cougars have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 14.6 stolen bases per game.
