The Washington Blue Lions will face off against the Huntington Huntsmen at 5:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Washington is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Washington is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They were the clear victors by a 14-4 margin over Westfall on Monday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.
Logan Krape spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits.
On the hitting side, Gavin Coffman was a standout: he got on base in all five of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. That stolen base marked the first that he has snagged this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sam Lotz, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI and two doubles.
Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .532. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Unioto hit Huntington with a four-run third inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Huntsmen came up short against the Shermans, falling 8-2. Huntsmen fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Shermans since on Friday.
Andrew Oyer was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off five hits.
At the plate, Matthew Jordan made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Huntington dropped their record down to 10-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Washington, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Everything went Washington's way against Huntington in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Washington made off with a 13-5 victory. Do the Blue Lions have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Huntsmen turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
