Loris is a perfect 10-0 against Green Sea Floyds since February of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Loris Lions will host the Green Sea Floyds Trojans at 6:00 p.m. Loris is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
Loris gave up the first runs last Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They blew past Marion 11-4.
Jessie Cartrette was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time she hasn't allowed a single hit since back in April of 2024. She was even better at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in April of 2024.
In other batting news, Kenzie McCoy and Haley Spence did most of the damage at the plate: McCoy scored three runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-4, while Spence went 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most stolen bases McCoy has posted since back in April of 2024. Peyton Cannon also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Meanwhile, Green Sea Floyds came up short against Georgetown on Saturday and fell 7-3. The Trojans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Loris, Green Sea Floyds also got a great game from a two-way player: Maci Collins. She struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). Collins has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing Two bases.
In other batting news, Claire Stroud was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Kalleigh Wilhelm, who scored three runs while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.
The win got Loris back to even at 2-2. As for Green Sea Floyds, they now have a losing record of 1-2.
Loris took their victory against Green Sea Floyds in their previous matchup back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 13-0. Will Loris repeat their success, or does Green Sea Floyds have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
