WPIAL A Tri-County South recap September 10, 2013
Avella moved up to 380 from 471 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in WPIAL A Tri-County South. The Eagles were able to make move up by beating West Greene 36-0.
Jefferson-Morgan took down Bentworth 54-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Rece Henneman threw for 60 yards and ran for 27 yards during the win.
Frazier's dynamic duo of Charles Manack and Dakota Hixson proved to be unstoppable against Carmichaels, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Manack threw for 268 yards and 2 touchdowns and Hixson had 123 yards receiving. Michael Luce helped Frazier's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 70 yards.
The Commodores' dynamic duo of Manack and Hixson proved tough for the Mighty Mikes to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Manack put up the best numbers in passing as Frazier lost to Carmichaels.
Logan Bowman was the best running back in the league this week. He ran for 40 yards on 4 carries as the Rockets fell to Ryan Krull's team. Teammate Trevor Kniha added to the ground attack by rushing for 42 yards.
He went 18-40 with 4 interceptions.
Hixson was the best receiver in the league this week as the Commodores lost to the Mighty Mikes.
Frazier's Manack and Hixson have formed a dream team this season, leading WPIAL A Tri-County South in both passing and receiving yards. 6-0 quarterback Manack has thrown for 322 yards this season, while Hixson has 5 catches for 123 yards. Bethlehem Center's Anthony Welsh leads the league in rushing yards with 164.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Carmichaels takes on second place Bethlehem Center.
Avella made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 8,826 from 10,768. The advance stemmed from a 36-0 victory over the Pioneers last week.
