Carlmont took care of business in their home opener on Friday (and then some). They took their match at home with ease, bagging a 61-34 victory over the Castro Valley Trojans. For the Scots, this counts as revenge for the 26-23 defeat the Trojans walked away with the last time they faced one another back in August of 2023.
Carlmont got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Daniel Mattioli out in front who rushed for 103 yards and three touchdowns on only six carries. Mattioli got the majority of those yards when he took off on a run and that went for an incredible68 yards. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Booth, who rushed for 87 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries.

Rilen Ramirez and Zayde Hickman certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Ramirez rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown, while Hickman picked up 54 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlmont is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game this season. they take on Menlo School at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Castro Valley, they will head out to challenge Livermore at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
