Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Espanola Valley). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 20-19 win over the Pojoaque Valley Elks/Elkettes on Tuesday. The victory was some much needed relief for the Sundevils as it spelled an end to their seven-game losing streak.
Leah Vigil was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with one home run, five RBI, and three runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Natalia Padilla was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Espanola Valley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .559. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in 14 consecutive contests.
