Softball Recap: Harnett Central Now 11-1 over Last 12 Games

While Harnett Central put up plenty of runs on Thursday, the same can't be said for Overhills. The Trojans blew past the Jaguars 14-0. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won 14 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Bree Tenters was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out six batters over 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, Bethany Gonzalez was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Lauren Faulkner was another key player, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.

Harnett Central always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .613. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Overhills only posted an OBP of .158.

Harnett Central is on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.3 runs over those games. As for Overhills, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 7-10.

Harnett Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Overhills, they will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Pine Forest at 5:30 p.m. on the 28th. The Jaguars' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Trojans have averaged an impressive 7.4 runs per game this season.
