The Galena Pirates scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 71-52 victory over Belvidere. Given Galena's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 281st, while Belvidere is ranked 596th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Connor Glasgow, who scored 25 points along with five rebounds. Glasgow is absolutely dominating the point category: he's posted at least 15 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Kaden Hauber, who scored 14 points.
Galena has been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-7 record this season. As for Belvidere, their loss was their fifth straight at home, which bumped their record down to 2-16.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Galena won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Warren at 7:00 p.m. on January 16th. As for Belvidere, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Genoa-Kingston at 7:15 p.m. on January 17th.
