Flomaton is 2-8 against Blacksher since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hurricanes will face off against the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. Flomaton has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Flomaton managed to slip by St. Michael Catholic the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hurricanes came up short against the Cardinals on Tuesday, falling 12-2.
Flomaton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacie Himes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one double. That double marked the first that Himes has hit this season.
Meanwhile, Blacksher came tearing into Tuesday's contest with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They were the clear victors by a 13-3 margin over Washington County. 13 seems to be a good number for Blacksher as the team scooped up a win with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Anna Grace Hollinger spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on three hits and racked up six Ks.
At the plate, Blacksher got a massive performance out of Emeri Ikner, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Brentli Richerson, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
Blacksher was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .318 or higher in ten consecutive matchups.
Flomaton's defeat dropped their record down to 4-9. As for Blacksher, their victory bumped their record up to 20-6.
Flomaton suffered a grim 15-1 defeat to Blacksher in their previous matchup last Tuesday. Can the Hurricanes avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
