The Heritage Panthers were the 58-34 winner over the Edgewood Red Wolves when they last played one another back in January of 2021, but their luck changed this time around. Heritage suffered a tough 50-28 defeat at the hands of Edgewood on Wednesday. Heritage just can't catch a break and has now endured three losses in a row.
Trishay Collins and Gionna Goodlow certainly did their best on Wednesday to try and avoid the loss. Collins dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds, while Goodlow scored ten points along with six rebounds. Those ten points set a new season-high mark for her.
Edgewood got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Alaina Preble out in front who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten steals. Those ten steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Shelby Preble, who scored nine points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Heritage's defeat dropped their record down to 3-5. As for Edgewood, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Heritage won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Eau Gallie at 2:00 p.m. on January 4th. Hopefully Eau Gallie focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 27 on Wednesday. Edgewood won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Sebastian River on January 4th. Sebastian River is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
