Softball Game Preview: Timberline Blazers vs. Peninsula Seahawks

The Timberline Blazers will venture away from home to square off against the Peninsula Seahawks at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Timberline knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matchups -- so hopefully Peninsula likes a good challenge.

Timberline's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They were the clear victors by a 23-0 margin over Capital. The Blazers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by seven runs or more this season.

Nevaeh Haagen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Haagen was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, Timberline got a massive performance out of Lillian Covey, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with four runs, two RBI, and one double. Those four runs gave Covey a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kayleese Dorfner, who went 2-for-3 with four runs and one RBI.

Timberline kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive matches.

Meanwhile, Peninsula didn't have quite enough to beat Gig Harbor on Thursday and fell 7-5. The Seahawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Peninsula's loss dropped their record down to 12-7. As for Timberline, their record now sits at 12-4.

Timberline came out on top in a nail-biter against Peninsula in their previous matchup back in April, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blazers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
