The Brawley Wildcats will challenge the Coronado Islanders at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Brawley's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Monday. They came out on top against Tri-City Christian by a score of 3-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wildcats.
Not much got past Daniella Yescas, who gave up just five hits to keep Tri-City Christian off the board. Yescas has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Demi Cornejo, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
Meanwhile, it can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Coronado had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past the Eagles 6-4.
Quinn Smock spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four runs (all of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up six Ks.
On the hitting side, Jersey Cunningham was excellent, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Fay, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Brawley's victory bumped their record up to 16-10. As for Coronado, their win bumped their record up to 16-10-1.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Brawley hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .340. However, it's not like Coronado struggles in that department as they've averaged .336. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Brawley's way against Coronado in their previous matchup back in March of 2022, as Brawley made off with a 7-1 victory. Do the Wildcats have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Islanders turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
