The First Baptist Crusaders waltzed into their contest on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They enjoyed a cozy 33-16 win over Tournament Opponent. For First Baptist, this counts as revenge for the 43-33 loss Tournament Opponent walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2021.
First Baptist found their leader in underclassman Lydia Wynja, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Wynja hasn't dropped below two blocks for 13 straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada McKinney, who scored four points along with three steals and two blocks.
First Baptist is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-5 record this season. As for Tournament Opponent, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost 41 of their last 47 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 66-156 record this season.
First Baptist will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Fourth Baptist Christian at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Tournament Opponent won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against New Way Christian Academy on January 20th.
