The Argyle Eagles won the last time they faced the Denton Broncos, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Argyle walked away with a 55-46 victory over Denton. Given Argyle's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Denton is ranked 444th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ethan Sheats and Chase Thomas certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Sheats dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds, while Thomas scored 13 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. That was a full 39.1% of Denton's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Hayden Gunter was another key contributor, scoring four points along with seven rebounds.
Argyle's victory bumped their record up to 25-6. As for Denton, they have not been sharp recently as the team has lost eight of their last nine games, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-22 record this season.
Argyle will be playing at home against Lake Dallas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Denton will take on Richland at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with six consecutive losses for Denton and 11 for Richland.
