New Richmond is 2-8 against Western Brown since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The New Richmond Lions will be playing at home against the Western Brown Broncos at 7:30 p.m. New Richmond has now lost seven straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since January 12.
New Richmond pushed their score all the way to 62 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-62 hit to the loss column at the hands of Mariemont. While losing is never fun, New Richmond can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 594th, while Mariemont is ranked 132nd).
Despite their defeat, New Richmond saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Rylan Utter, who scored 25 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Luke Wolf, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Western Brown pushed their score all the way to 65 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 66-65 to Batavia. Western Brown has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
New Richmond has not been sharp recently as the team's lost eight of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Western Brown, their loss dropped their record down to 6-12.
