Baseball Recap: Booker T. Washington Extends Winning Streak to Four

Booker T. Washington waltzed into their matchup on Thursday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They blew past the Laurel Hill Hoboes 19-7. The Wildcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hoboes, too.

Lucas Parkhurst was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (four). He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-5. He is becoming a predictor of Booker T. Washington's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-15 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, JJ Startzel was incredible, getting on base in five of his six plate appearances with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Christian Brown, who scored four runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.

Booker T. Washington always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Booker T. Washington's victory bumped their record up to 7-15. As for Laurel Hill, they are on an eight-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Booker T. Washington will host L.E.A.D. Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Lions have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 8.44 runs per game on average), something the Wildcats will no doubt try to take advantage of.
