Northside is 2-8 against William Byrd since May of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Vikings will welcome the Terriers at 5:00 p.m. Northside is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.7 runs per game this season.
Glenvar hit Northside with a eight-run first inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Vikings fell 10-7 to the Highlanders. The pitching woes were uncharacteristic for the Vikings, who until this contest were averaging 3.57 runs allowed.
Justin Tucker put in work while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Tucker was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base and one RBI.
Tucker wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Aries Oliver, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Brett Taylor was another, going 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and two RBI.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 14 runs the game before, William Byrd was a bit more limited in their game on Tuesday. They took a 6-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Liberty Christian.
Austin Kroner made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Bryce Moding, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
William Byrd now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Northside, their loss dropped their record down to 5-2.
