Basketball Recap: Chatham Picks Up Eighth Consecutive Win

Chatham put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They secured a 36-30 W over the Patrick County Cougars. Given the Cavaliers' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 33rd, while the Cougars are ranked 196th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Chatham's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jakiyah Giggetts led the charge by dropping a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. The contest was Giggetts' 12th in a row with at least ten points. Sydney Ward was another key player, dropping a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds.

Chatham pushed their record up to 8-0 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 50.7 points per game. As for Patrick County, they now have a losing record at 2-3.

As for Patrick County, a feisty cat fight will be fought when the Patrick County Cougars duke it out with the Dan River Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Patrick County is facing Dan River at the right time seeing as Dan River is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
