Softball Recap: Red Bluff Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Red Bluff had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the University Prep Panthers. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 7-6 two weeks ago.

Laurali Jones made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching five innings while giving up just one earned (and six unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Jones wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Natalee Ross, who went 2-for-4 with two runs. Olivia Owens also deserves some recognition as she scored her first runs of the season.

Red Bluff now has a winning record of 4-3. As for University Prep, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-8.

Looking ahead, Red Bluff will take on West Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for University Prep, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 9-5 loss against Chico on the 23rd.
