Metro - Mesa recap Oct. 3, 2012
Isaiah Gibson of Olympian ran for the longest rushing play in Metro - Mesa this season against Sweetwater last week. Gibson's team beat the Red Devils as he sprinted for 81 yards on the play and finished with 98 in all.
Otay Ranch extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Castle Park, 34-10. The win marks fifth in a row for the the Mustangs.
AUSTIN KANE provided a threat through the air and on the ground as Bonita Vista fell to Hilltop. He completed 12 passes for 220 yards and three touchdowns and also ran for five yards. KANE's favorite target this week was CALEB SU, who caught three passes for 86 yards.
Jevante Reed was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 114 yards on 22 carries as Chula Vista defeated the Trojans. Teammate Hui Wolfgramm added to the ground attack by rushing for 48 yards.
Martin was the best wideout in Metro - Mesa this week as Anthony Lacsina's team defeated Castle Park. Martin tallied four receptions for 120 yards. Elijah Herrero helped Otay Ranch's passing attack out by catching one ball for 22 yards.
Christopher Humphery put up the best numbers through the air as Olympian bested Sweetwater. He finished with seven completions for 200 yards and four touchdowns. Humphery's favorite target this week was Christein Humphery, who caught three passes for 79 yards.
6-foot-0 quarterback KANE of the Barons is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1065. He has also thrown nine touchdowns. On the ground, the Spartans' Reed has rushed for 733 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Martin. The Otay Ranch star has 20 catches for 541 yards.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Mustangs take on Bonita Vista. At the moment, Otay Ranch is in first, while the Barons are in fifth.
Gil Warren's team took down Jose Mendoza's team 56-14 last week, the largest margin of any game. Humphery in the win.
