The Huntland Hornets's five-game losing streak came to an end on Thursday. They put the hurt on Community with a sharp 56-36 win. Huntland's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Despite the loss, Community saw an underclassman step up: Anna Haskins scored 19 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Haskins scored a full 52.8% of Community's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Taylar Wessner, who scored six points.
Huntland's victory bumped their record up to 2-8. As for Community, they bumped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road.
Huntland will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Fayetteville at 6:00 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Community will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Moore County at 7:15 p.m. on December 29th. Moore County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Community in Tennessee (Moore County is ranked 95th, while Community is ranked 293rd).
