The Grandview Prep Pride will be playing at home against the Morningside Academy Eagles at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Grandview Prep's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last 12 matches.
Even though Somerset Academy - Canyons scored an imposing 59 points on Friday, Grandview Prep still came out on top. Grandview Prep enjoyed a cozy 77-59 victory over Somerset Academy - Canyons. Given Grandview Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while Somerset Academy - Canyons is ranked 477th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Grandview Prep's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Markenson Jordonne, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jordonne has scored all season. Marco Jordonne was another key contributor, scoring 21 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Morningside Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their third straight loss. They took a 44-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spanish River.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Elijah Clifford, who scored ten points. Another player making a difference was Brandon Clark, who scored nine points.
Grandview Prep's victory was their 12th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 13-3. As for Morningside Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-7.
Tuesday's contest is shaping up to be a scrappy match: Grandview Prep have been smashing the glass this season, having only averaged 21.2 rebounds per game. It's a different story for Morningside Academy, though, as they've been averaging only 31.1 rebounds per game. Given Grandview Prep's sizeable advantage in that area, Morningside Academy will need to find a way to close that gap.
Grandview Prep took their victory against Morningside Academy when the teams last played back in January of 2023 by a conclusive 58-36. Will Grandview Prep repeat their success, or does Morningside Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
