The biggest upset of the week belonged to St. James, who defeated 178th ranked St. James, 20-19.
Fans got a thrill when Chandler Taylor and David Elston connected against Headland. The longest such play in 4A Region 2 this season, the connection resulted in 80 yards.
Alabama Christian Academy's dynamic duo of Taylor and Elston proved tough for the Rams to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Taylor threw for 441 yards and 4 touchdowns and Elston had 198 yards receiving. Hudson Pugh helped Alabama Christian Academy's passing attack out by catching 4 balls for 86 yards.
The Eagles' dynamic duo of Taylor and Elston proved to be unstoppable against Headland, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
He went 22-39 with 1 interceptions.
Taylor put up the best numbers through the air as Alabama Christian Academy lost to Micah Johnson's team.
Elston was the best wideout in the league this week as Bill Moore's team lost to the Rams.
Selmar Russell was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Eagles fell to Headland. The 6-foot-0 sophomore.
Walker Meadows was the most successful running back in the league this week. In 19 carries, he ran for 89 yards as Beauregard fell to the Rams. Eddie Washington also contributed to the rushing game with 41 yards on the ground.
The Eagles' Taylor and Elston have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading 4A Region 2 in both passing and receiving yards. 6-1 quarterback Taylor has thrown for 675 yards this season, while Elston has 10 catches for 236 yards. The Trojans' Frank Moody leads the league in rushing yards with 207.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Tallassee takes on second place Charles Henderson. Tallassee defeated Bullock County last week, while Charles Henderson topped the Hornets.
The Trojans were able to crack the Top 25 in the state rankings this week after beating Beauregard. Charles Henderson came in at 16 in the state poll after placing at number 30 last week.
