While losing is never fun, Mar Vista can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 911th, while Mater Dei Catholic is ranked 308th).
This is the second loss in a row for Mar Vista and nudges their season record down to 4-9-2. As for Mater Dei Catholic, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 9-4-2.
Mar Vista will head out on the road to face off against Otay Ranch at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Mar Vista is coming into the game with five straight losses on the road, meaning Otay Ranch will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Mater Dei Catholic, they will look to defend their home pitch on Friday against Castle Park at 6:00 p.m. Castle Park's last eight matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
