TAPPS Division II District 2 recap Nov. 7, 2012
Dallas Christian extended the longest winning streak in TAPPS Division II District 2 this week by beating Bishop Gorman, 49-0. This was the team's ninth consecutive win.
Shelton moved up to 791 from 887 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. The Chargers climbed the ranks as a result of beating Trinity Christian 36-7.
Grace Community's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Blake White threw for 200 and three touchdowns and Lin Gillham had 51 yards receiving. On the ground Kade Clayton chipped in 200 yards. Statler Lewis helped Grace Community's passing attack out by catching two balls for 47 yards.
Thanks to the talents of White and Clayton the Cougars have been able to do all sorts of things on offense. White leads the league in passing with 1705 yards, while Clayton has rushed for 1247 yards this season. The Tigers' Frank Tull leads the league in receiving yards with 549 on 25 catches.
Prince of Peace's Taylor Nelson is a mere 29 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 101 carries Nelson has accumulated 971 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Grace Community takes on Parish Episcopal. As it stands, Mike Maddox's team is in third, while the Panthers are in second.
Dallas Christian took down the Crusaders 49-0 last week, the largest margin of any game.
