After two games on the road, Webster County is heading back home. They will take on The Wirt County Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Webster County will be hoping to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each contest than the last.
Last Friday, Webster County didn't have too much trouble with Calhoun on the road as they won 38-22. The win was just what Webster County needed coming off of a 64-36 defeat in their prior match.
Webster County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaac Snyder led the charge by throwing for 131 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Another player making a difference was Isaac Cutlip, who gained 91 total yards and two touchdowns.
Another reason for the win was Webster County's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Jackie Ferguson and his two sacks.
Meanwhile, Wirt County can now show off four landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They breezed by Madonna on the road to the tune of 35-8. Winning may never get old, but Wirt County sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
It was another big night for Chase Lowe, who rushed for 275 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 9.5 yards per carry. Lowe is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Channing Lowe, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Webster County to 3-6 and Wirt County to 5-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Webster County has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 161.9 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Wirt County struggles in that department as they've been even better at 247.7 per game. It's looking like Friday's matchup might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Webster County took a serious blow against Wirt County when the teams last played back in September of 2020, falling 76-6. Will Webster County have more luck at home instead of on the road?
