Colbert Heights and Waterloo are an even 4-4 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Colbert Heights Wildcats the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome the Waterloo Cougars at 5:30 p.m. on January 26th. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Last Tuesday, Colbert Heights was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-35 to Hackleburg.
Waterloo suffered their biggest defeat yet this season two weeks ago. They were outmatched by Rogers on the road and fell 72-32. While losing is never fun, Waterloo can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 225th, while Rogers is ranked 89th).
Colbert Heights dropped their record down to 4-13 with that loss, which was their sixth straight at home. As for Waterloo, their defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-7.
Things could have been worse for Colbert Heights, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 40-23 loss to Waterloo in their previous meeting back in December of 2023. Can Colbert Heights avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
