After flying high against the Independence 76ers last Tuesday, the Briggs Bruins came back down to earth. Briggs was dealt a 72-38 loss at the hands of Walnut Ridge on Friday. Briggs was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 45-23.
Walnut Ridge got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Lj Foster out in front who scored 19 points along with nine rebounds and three steals. Foster continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Jahleel Wakeel was another key contributor, scoring 18 points along with three steals.
Briggs' defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 5-12. As for Walnut Ridge, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-5.
Briggs will head out on the road to challenge South at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Briggs in Ohio (South is ranked 113th, while Briggs is ranked 595th). As for Walnut Ridge, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Lincoln at 7:00 p.m. on January 27th. Lincoln will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
