Clover Hill took a 11-run defeat the last time they faced off against Manchester, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Cavaliers skirted past the Lancers 8-6. Winning may never get old, but the Cavaliers sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
James Nigriny was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out nine batters over 4.2 innings while giving up four earned runs off only two hits. Those nine strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other pitching news, Keller Williams looked comfortable as he tossed 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 11 consecutive appearances.
