The Webster Warriors suffered their biggest loss since December 5, 2023 on Friday. They suffered a rough 73-50 defeat at the hands of Nathan Hale. While losing is never fun, Webster can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Oklahoma basketball rankings (they are ranked 393rd, while Nathan Hale is ranked 98th).
Despite the loss, Webster saw an underclassman step up: Hondo Avington scored 20 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Avington has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Sheldon Stephenson, who scored ten points along with six rebounds.
Webster's loss was their 17th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-11. As for Nathan Hale, their win bumped their record up to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Webster's road trip will continue as they head out to face Warner at 8:30 p.m. on January 18th. As for Nathan Hale, they will square off against Coweta at 11:45 a.m. on Thursday.
