On Friday, The Mt. Pleasant Kilties faced the Cranston West Falcons in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Mt. Pleasant took their game at home with ease, bagging a 46-12 victory over Cranston West. The score was close at the half, but Mt. Pleasant pulled away in the second half with 38 points.
Mt. Pleasant had a senior duo take command as Benji Soe rushed for 162 yards on only 11 carries and Adonai Lopez threw for 133 yards and three touchdowns on only ten passes. Soe's longest rush was for an incredible 71 yards.
Although Cranston West took the loss, they still got scores from Kelan Cornell and Anthony Salas.
Mt. Pleasant's win was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 5-2. They've been dominating during the matches in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 29 points. As for Cranston West, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Pleasant will take on Cumberland at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Cumberland is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune. As for Cranston West, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Greenwich at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. East Greenwich comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last six games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
