The Punxsutawney Chucks will head out on the road to face off against the Redbank Valley Bulldogs at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Punxsutawney comes in on four and Redbank Valley on three.
Last Friday, Punxsutawney beat Bradford 49-36. Given Punxsutawney's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Bradford is ranked 235th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, even though Karns City scored an imposing 66 points on Thursday, Redbank Valley still came out on top. In a tight game that could have gone either way, Redbank Valley made off with a 67-66 victory over Karns City.
Redbank Valley can attribute much of their success to Mason Clouse, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and three steals, and Kieran Fricko, who scored 20 points along with six assists and four steals. Clouse is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Clouse, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.
Punxsutawney's record is now 4-0. Redbank Valley's record is now 3-0.
Punxsutawney beat Redbank Valley 65-56 in their previous meeting back in February of 2020. Does Punxsutawney have another victory up their sleeve, or will Redbank Valley turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
