It was a good run, but the Lakeland Christian Vikings unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Academy at the Lakes, falling 57-24. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Lakeland Christian has scored all season.
Despite the loss, Lakeland Christian saw an underclassman step up: Issa Simpson scored eight points along with 12 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kiya Boyce, who scored three points.
Lakeland Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 9-4. As for Academy at the Lakes, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lakeland Christian will take on Frostproof at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Academy at the Lakes won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Canterbury at 6:00 p.m. on January 17th. Canterbury will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
