Moapa Valley extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 6-4. They lost 15-3 to the Lincoln County Lynx. The Pirates were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lynx earlier this season, when they won 4-2.
Meg Evans made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, one double, and one RBI. Irelynn Carlton also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
As for Lincoln County, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-7. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games.
On Lincoln County's side, Brylie Somers made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off four hits. Somers was also stellar in the batter's box, going 1-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last 12 contests.
In other batting news, Lincoln County got a massive performance out of Cadence Long, who got on base in all five of her plate appearances with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Those two doubles gave Long a new career-high. Lakyla Kulani was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Coming up, Moapa Valley will welcome Pine View at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 12.25 runs per game on average), something the Pirates will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Lincoln County, they are taking a road trip to square off against Needles at 11:00 a.m. on Friday. The game will give the Lynx their first taste of in-conference action this season.
