After flying high against Lincolnton on Wednesday, East Gaston came back down to earth. The Warriors took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Highland Tech Rams on Thursday. The Warriors' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.
East Gaston started the match hot and won the first set, but they struggled down the stretch and lost the last three. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-19, 25-19, 25-14.
Several Warriors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Morgan Styles, who had 15 digs and five aces. Styles has been hot, having also posted 15 or more assists the last eight times she's played. Cooper Payne was another key player, getting 25 digs and one assist.
Carsyn Redmond had an outrageously good game for Highland Tech as she had eight digs and three aces. What's more, Redmond racked up 19 assists, the most she's had over her last seven games. The team also got some help courtesy of Finley Watson, who had ten digs.
East Gaston's defeat dropped their record down to 13-4. As for Highland Tech, they pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their seventh straight at home.
