The Glenn Falcons will take on the River Forest Ingots in a tournament on Saturday. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Glenn lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Bremen, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Friday's game. The Falcons blew past the Lions 15-3 on Friday. The Falcons' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Brendin Hodges made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up three earned runs off eight hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.
In other batting news, Glenn got a big performance out of Gabe Goodsell, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Kaden Lang was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run.
Glenn always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, River Forest earned a 7-2 victory over Marquette Catholic on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Ingots.
Ellis Gorham was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with three stolen bases. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.2 stolen bases per game. Another player making a difference was Walter Jaime, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one double, and one RBI.
River Forest's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.2 runs on average over those games. As for Glenn, their win bumped their record up to 2-4.
Glenn took their victory against River Forest in their previous meeting back in May of 2021 by a conclusive 19-0 score. Do the Falcons have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Ingots turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
