Adding to the longest winning streak in 2A Region 4 this week, Calhoun City beat Baldwyn 31-0. The win marks ninth in a row for the the Wildcats.
Calhoun City took down the Bearcats 31-0 last week, the largest margin of any game. Chakel Gates threw for 200 yards and 1 touchdown and ran for 108 yards during the win.
Perry Liles' team's Gates and Brieton Sykes have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Gates has thrown for 1,812 yards this season, while Sykes has 31 catches for 689 yards. Eupora's Lamontae Salley leads the league in rushing yards with 1,145.
The Wildcats' Gates is within 188 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Bassfield.
Calhoun City led the league in scoring this week by notching 31 points on Baldwyn. Gates ran for 108 yards in the win.
