After a string of three wins, the Eastside Lions's good fortune finally ran out on Monday. They lost to Quartz Hill on the road by a decisive 59-42 margin. While losing is never fun, Eastside can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 885th, while Quartz Hill is ranked 407th).
Despite the loss, Eastside still got an impressive performance from Josh Songer, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Keyron Scott, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Quartz Hill's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jaidyn Norman led the charge by scoring 20 points along with six rebounds. Norman has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Jalen Ignacio was another key contributor, scoring three points along with 17 rebounds and four steals.
Eastside's loss dropped their record down to 8-17. As for Quartz Hill, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Eastside will take on Littlerock at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Quartz Hill, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Highland at 6:30 p.m.
