Softball Recap: Poly Has No Trouble Against Indio

Poly won the last time they faced Indio and things went their way on Monday too. The Poly Bears were the clear victor by a 15-2 margin over the Indio Rajahs. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Cassandra Ayala made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. Ayala was even better at the plate, going 1-for-2 with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Honesty Romero and Katelyn Cortez did most of the damage at the plate: Romero went a perfect2-for-2 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Cortez went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave Cortez a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Maddy Waddell, who went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI.

Poly always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .741. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indio only posted an OBP of .316.

Poly's record is now 2-0. As for Indio, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Poly will face off against Citrus Valley at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Indio, they will be taking part in a tournament against Aquinas at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
