The San Juan Broncos will head out on the road to face off against the Manti Templars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in San Juan's favor is that they have posted at least 31 points in their last four matchups.
San Juan is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Delta: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Broncos blew the Rabbits out of the water with a 61-7 final score. The Broncos haven't had any issues with the Rabbits recently, as the game was their seventh consecutive victory against them.
It was another big night for Jagger Nieves, who rushed for 191 yards and five touchdowns on only 11 carries, and also picked up 84 receiving yards. He also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, making six total tackles and defending two passes. Another player making a difference was Beau Yeomans, who threw for 322 yards and a pair of TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: San Juan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 275 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Delta only rushed for 123.
San Juan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Andrew Nielson and Kooper Laws.
Meanwhile, Manti's game on Friday was all tied up 12-12 at the half, but sadly for them it didn't stay that way. They lost 40-18 to Richfield. The loss continues a trend for the Templars in their meetings with the Wildcats: they've now lost four in a row.
San Juan will have to contain Carter Mason as he made an impact in Manti's last game. He threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns, and also punched in one score on the ground. 80 of Mason's passing yards were hauled in by Tala Taulapapa.
San Juan's win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Manti, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
San Juan strolled past Manti in their previous matchup back in October of 2020 by a score of 41-27. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was the Templars' Tyler Taukei'Aho, who rushed for 95 yards and a pair of TDs on only 11 carries. Now that he won't be playing on Friday, will it be easier for the Broncos to walk away with another win? There's only one way to find out.
