Lucas is on a 13-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while the Flames are on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Both teams will face off at 7:30 p.m. on February 9th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Saturday, Lucas made easy work of the Comets and carried off a 56-32 win.
Lucas got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Gabe Porter out in front who scored 11 points along with five rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Aidan Culler, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Mansfield Christian got the win against the Eagles on Saturday by a conclusive 72-48. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-16.
Mansfield Christian's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Davion Mack led the charge by almost dropping a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Mack is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last eight games he's played. Davis Wushinske was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with three steals.
Lucas' victory bumped their record up to 13-3. As for Mansfield Christian, their win bumped their record up to 15-3.
Friday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Lucas have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 45.7% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Mansfield Christian struggles in that department as they've made 43.4% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Lucas skirted past the Flames 64-62 in their previous meeting back in January. Will Lucas repeat their success, or do the Flames have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
