The Newkirk Tigers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their 15th straight defeat. They fell 43-33 to Pawhuska. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Newkirk in their matchups with the Huskies: they've now lost four in a row.
Trenton Miles continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Pawhuska, dropping a double-double on 17 points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Canyon Hindman, who scored five points along with two steals.
Newkirk's loss was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-19. As for Pawhuska, the win got them back to even at 10-10.
Newkirk will head out on the road to challenge the Goldbugs at 8:00 p.m. on Thursday. Alva presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Tigers in Oklahoma (the Goldbugs are ranked 119th, while the Tigers are ranked 472nd). As for Pawhuska, they will be playing at home against the Cougars at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Woodland will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
