Baseball Recap: Foothill Gets the Win

Foothill's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They came out on top against the Desert Oasis Diamondbacks by a score of 7-4. This was a revenge game for the Falcons: when they faced off against the Diamondbacks last Tuesday, they had to take a 8-2 loss.

Tyler Straily made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-low in earned runs (zero). He was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Landon Angelo was excellent, scoring a run while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Matthew Szymarek was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.

Foothill always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .531. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Desert Oasis only posted an OBP of .333.

Foothill's victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 7-4. As for Desert Oasis, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-5 record this season.

Foothill will challenge Bonanza at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Foothill is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.4 runs per game this season. As for Desert Oasis, they will take on Clovis West at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Desert Oasis also hasn't been messing around on offense: they've averaged 6.2 runs per game.
