Football Recap: Calaveras Piles Up the Points Against Le Grand

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Calaveras had no problem doing just that on Friday. They breezed past the Le Grand Bulldogs to the tune of 33-6. Considering the Red Hawks have won seven contests by more than 26 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Despite the defeat, Le Grand had strong showings from Blake Lua, who picked up 96 receiving yards and one TD, and Diego Martinez, who threw for 215 yards and one touchdown. The bulk of those receiving yards came from one huge play: a catch that gained an incredible 54 yards.

Calaveras' victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.0 points over those games. As for Le Grand, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 6-5.

Coming up, Calaveras will face off against Denair at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Red Hawks will need to watch out since the Coyotes have now posted at least 31 points in their last three games. Le Grand does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
