After three games on the road, Steubenville is heading back home. They will take on the Martins Ferry Purple Riders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Friday, Steubenville was able to grind out a solid win over Brooke, taking the game 75-62. The victory was just what Steubenville needed coming off of a 65-38 loss in their prior match.
It was another big night for Keith Lewis, who shot 5-for-8 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double on 33 points and nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Santino Haney, who scored 25 points along with six assists and two steals.
Meanwhile, Martins Ferry made easy work of Buckeye Trail on Friday and carried off a 57-36 victory.
Steubenville's victory bumped their record up to 8-11. As for Martins Ferry, they pushed their record up to 11-5 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Steubenville didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Martins Ferry when the teams last played back in February of 2023, but they still walked away with a 60-55 victory. Does Steubenville have another victory up their sleeve, or will Martins Ferry turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
