Conifer is 2-7 against Evergreen since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Conifer Lobos will be playing at home against the Evergreen Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Evergreen took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Conifer, who comes in off a win.
Conifer put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They breezed by Skyview on the road to the tune of 52-21. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Conifer had established a 24 point advantage.
Carston Wolanske was a one-man wrecking crew for Conifer as he rushed for 163 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.2 yards per carry. Carson Payer was another key contributor, rushing for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries.
Meanwhile, Evergreen managed to keep up with Wheat Ridge until halftime on Friday, but things quickly went downhill from there. Evergreen ended up on the wrong side of a tough 35-14 walloping at the hands of Wheat Ridge.
Evergreen's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Josh Bittner, who rushed for 64 yards and two touchdowns, and Jace Jodie who rushed for 100 yards.
Even if they lost, Evergreen's defensive line sure didn't make it easy: Wheat Ridge's QB was sacked six times before it was all said and done. Wheat Ridge's QB won't forget Jackson Post anytime soon given Post sacked him six times.
Conifer now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Evergreen, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.
Conifer was taken down by Evergreen 41-0 in their previous matchup back in November of 2022. Thankfully for Conifer, Tommy Poholsky (who rushed for 133 yards and a touchdown on only 11 carries, and also threw for 160 yards and two touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
