Charlotte Catholic is a perfect 9-0 against East Mecklenburg since March of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. Charlotte Catholic took a loss when they played away from home on Monday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They came out on top against Butler by a score of 12-7. With that win, the Cougars brought their scoring average up to 6.6 runs per game.

Rachel Wildman was a major factor no matter where she played. She struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with four RBI and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, Evi Hoefling was incredible, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Annabelle Grogan, who scored two runs while going 3-for-4.
Charlotte Catholic kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, East Mecklenburg got the win against Berry on Wednesday by a conclusive 23-8. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by six runs or more this season.
Like Charlotte Catholic, East Mecklenburg also got a great game from a two-way player: Frida Arroyo. She looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Arroyo was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zya Dunlap, who scored five runs and stole Two bases. while going 5-for-5. Oyuky Alanis Lozada was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI and two doubles.
The victory got East Mecklenburg back to even at 5-5. As for Charlotte Catholic, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Charlotte Catholic hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .369. However, it's not like East Mecklenburg struggles in that department as they've averaged .546. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
