The Belton Pirates came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Chrisman and snuck past 56-54. The win was all the more spectacular given Belton's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 213th, while Chrisman is ranked 101st).
Leading Belton to victory were Kordell Williams and Jw Johnson. Williams scored 15 points, while Johnson scored 19 points along with two steals. Williams has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Shrum, who scored eight points along with three blocks.
Belton is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-14 record this season. As for Chrisman, their loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-10.
Belton will head out on the road to face off against Raymore-Peculiar at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Belton focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. As for Chrisman, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Platte County at 7:00 p.m.
